UCI Libraries' Update is Going Green
In an effort to help the environment while reducing costs, UCI Libraries Update: A Newsletter for Faculty is going fully electronic. Future issues will arrive via email and may always be viewed on the Libraries' website at update.lib.uci.edu.
The new electronic version replaces the bi-annual printed format with shorter, but more frequent issues. We hope this approach will better meet our readers' needs.
Faculty should look for the new, electronic version beginning in September 2011.

Do you wish that you had a quick and seamless way to access library resources and information? UCI Libraries is pleased to announce the LibX toolbar!
LibX is an open source framework that enables libraries to create customizable toolbars which increase productivity by making common, library-related tasks fast. For example, what if you were surfing your favorite non-UC Irvine Libraries site and saw an author's name or a book title and wanted to look it up in Antpac catalog right now?
Once installed, the Libraries' LibX toolbar provides instant access via a drop-down menu of links to the following Libraries' resources and services:
- Library Homepage
- Databases to Get You Started
- Articles by Citation
- Ask a Librarian
The toolbar menu includes a drop-down menu which allows you to choose which resource to search: Antpac, NextGen Melvyl Pilot, Subject & Course Guides, Journals A-Z, Academic Search Complete, PubMed, and Google Scholar.
LibX has been installed on IE and Firefox on the public workstations in Langson library and the Ayala Science Library. To learn more about the toolbar and place it on your web browser, please see the LibX UC Irvine Libraries Edition (www.lib.uci.edu/research/libx-toolbar.html) page.
