Melvyl® Now includes More Articles

Identifying journal articles through Melvyl has become even easier. As part of a Spring 2012 pilot, the Melvyl database is now enriched with several million new journal articles and other documents from a wide range of databases, particularly in the humanities and social sciences. This pilot turns Melvyl into an even larger discovery tool that provides a one-stop search and retrieval experience for many students, faculty, and other researchers. At the end of the pilot, the California Digital Libraries will assess how this additional content in Melvyl impacts our patrons.

Some important tips:mel

  • Links in the left sidebar let you narrow your search to just articles, or to focus on items from particular databases
  • In most cases, Melvyl will display citations and abstracts, with the full text accessible through the yellow UC-eLinks button or other links provided
  • The Advanced Search screen lets you control which databases are searched
  • If off-campus, you may need to login to the VPN to access full-text journal articles. See https://www.lib.uci.edu/how/connect-from-off-campus.html for more information about connecting from off campus
