New Collaborative Work Spaces for Students

ImageThrough eTech funds provided by the Office of Information Technology (OIT) the Libraries were able to equip two of the study rooms at the Libraries Gateway Study Center as collaborative workspaces. These rooms each include a:

  • Touchscreen computer
  • Large wall mounted digital display
  • Webcam
  • Adjustable table mounts for mobile devices
  • Easy access to Zoom video conferencing software (coming soon)

The rooms will provide students with a continuation of the learning experiences that they begin in other spaces on campus and encourage them to work collaboratively outside of the classroom. Further, the technology provided will allow students to work together even if not all in the same physical location. We have also identified rooms in both the Ayala Science Library and Langson Library to add more of these workspaces in the near future.

Students can reserve the rooms through our Study Space Locator at lib.uci.edu/study-space-locator by scrolling down and selecting "Collaborative Workspaces-Libraries Gateway Study Center." The room numbers are Gateway 2108 and Gateway 2109.
